Candy Bar Ideas For Graduation Parties

Graduation parties are a fact of life. Everyone loves them. By providing a candy bar, you eliminate the need for pastries, finger foods, and other snacks. You purchase your bulk candy online and it is an easy and great way to treat your grads. Everybody loves candy!

Setting up the table

The theme is graduation, and the theme colors are the school colors. You may accent some of the colors by purchasing different shades of the color, but try to keep the table within 2 or 3 colors.

For graduation, you can use paper graduation caps, and miniature diplomas wrapped in ribbon. You can even get creative and print small labels to place inside that say congratulations class of 2017. There are always lots of graduation props at the dollar stores and you can use balloons and ribbons for your backdrop.

Signs

For this candy bar, you need signs. A banner reading “congratulations,” and  signs that have the school name and year, A “graduation class of 2017” sign is perfect for the centerpiece. Other ideas are signs that read:

  • Smartie pants
  • Reach for the stars
  • Bookworms (placed next to a bowl of gummy worms
  • Class rings (next to gummy rings or hard candy rings like lifesavers)
  • Nerds (next to Nerd ropes)

Bulk Lollipops

Though you will no doubt have a wide range of candy, don’t omit the lollipops just because the kids are older. Lollipops are one of the most popular candies. They are delicious and teens love them. They also are great for candy bars because they can be stood up in a vase if you need height in a location, or fanned across a tray if you need a low dish. They are also great for pushing into jars of candy that are getting low toward the end of the party.

There are plenty of places online to get information on how to set up your candy bar/buffet. The good news is, there is no wrong way. Here are some basics that will help you set it up and have it look great.

  • Your table should be 6 – 8 feet long
  • You need a table cover in one of the theme colors
  • Do not limit yourself on your backdrop. Strings of lights, pom-poms, streamers, or posters all work fine. Set your backdrop to compliment the table. The centerpiece is your wow factor.
  • Plan on about 8-ounces of candy per guests
  • Layer your candy so refills are easy as the candy gets low
  • Fill your jars ¾ and leave adequate room for scoops

Final Touches

No graduation party is complete without a yearbook or slam book. Place a book with a variety of pens on the table and have each student sign it and leave a message for the host of the party or for the principal of the school. You decide what you want to do with it.

Set up a big screen and show video clips of the students throughout their school career. These can be obtained from their friends, parents, and usually, the school will have pictures or video clips.
